Those of us who live in The United States will celebrate Thanksgiving Day tomorrow. So in these times that “try men’s souls” it is worth considering the things you can give thanks for.
For some it will be a time to be thankful for the time spent with family. For others it will be time to be thankful that you have an excuse (e.g., work pressures) to avoid family.
Some will give thanks that air travel allows you gather from long distances that previously would have been most difficult. Others may give thanks that your car allows you avoid the irradiation and fondling that are now a mandatory part of air travel.
Some may be thankful for their good health. Others may be thankful for the care of a good doctor. Some may just be thankful for the short time left.
Some may be thankful that they still have a job in these recessed times. Others may be thankful for the lesson that there is more to life than money.
Some men may be thankful that game has allowed them bring more women into their life. Other men may be thankful that it is easier to go their own way.
Some may be thankful for the long break, others may be thankful when it is all over.
If the New Year is a time to look forward to what might be, then, perhaps, Thanksgiving is a time to look back and reflect upon the good things of the previous year.
Me: I am thankful for the readers and commenters on this blog. Wherever you live, I hope you all have a great weekend and find at least one thing for which you can be truly thankful.
